My Humorous Monologue

We are now starting up our first video project of the year and it is called "Comedic Monologue". I
have learned that this project resembles what every comedian's has to go through to make masterfully comedic piece. A piece of comedy needs planning, thinking and preparation. The ideas you have for a comedic piece need to go into a organized template where you can add things to your jokes, figure out the tones, organize your joke and just plan every detail out in general. Jokes aren't the easiest things to create but these templates can really make your jokes stand out to their full extent. Every comedian has to plan his joke, no comedian just thinks of a joke and tells it to the public immediately, it needs planning and memorization.

Padding is the extra video you take before you start your actual scene and after your scene is over. This helps with making your transitions a lot more fluent and smooth. The camera man will usually first say "Rolling," which means that the camera just started recording and then following up with an "Action," which means the actor can start his scene. At the end of your scene tell your actor to stay in there position for at least 3-5 seconds before you stop recording for a nice end padding. Padding is also more pleasing to hear rather than sudden cuts in the audio, which might confuse your audience.
I am the orange part.

I think my weakness was actually coming up with the idea of what my comedic monologue should be, which I took about a week decide. I got my idea from our teacher Mr. Sanderl when he suggested that someone do a comedic piece of being sarcastic about middle school. I think my strength was the editing part because to me that is the easiest part of the whole process. It's also the part of the process where it is actually fun.I think I can improve by being more proactive because during filming I was procrastinating a lot and had to do everything at the last minute. Overall, this was a fun project and I hope to do other projects like this again.
