Character Devolpment

I am a kind of person who always wants to stay out of stressful situations and just have fun with my friends. You might think that having fun with my friends all the time might not be a good thing, but I do my work when I need to and try to find shortcuts while i'm doing it but not in a way in which it would hurt the quality of my work. Im also a person who just doesn't like doing anything that I feel wont help me or others. My hobbies are gaming, fishing, and watching funny TV shows. An imperfection that I have for one is definitely procrastination. Overall Im just someone who likes to have lots of fun.

The way Im planning to exaggerate the character traits while animating is by using the puppet warp tool in a way that it shows the character's emotions. For example, if the character is sad, I can exaggerate her physical reaction to being sad which might be crying or even bawling on the ground. The reason why animation is so great is because it can bring inanimate objects to life or make your characters do things they cant in real life. For instance, if the character is very happy and or excited then I can bring the viewer to the character's happy place which can be filled with things that you wouldn't be able to film in real life, like unicorns or rainbows.

The first thing we had to do in our GIF was to set the size of the document, which is a really important part of the process as it will downsize the images so that they wouldn't overload the computer. Next we had to use the quick selection tool to get your body separate from the rest of the picture . After this we would make a background layer which be the backdrop of your animation. After this is done, you may then open up your animation workspace. Mr. Sanderl stated that in GIFs there is a flow of movement in other words a seamless loop, you should not be able to see the beginning of the video or the end but rather have them blend in to each other. You have to move your character from out of the frame, into the frame by slow movement in which you create one frame for each little move you do on your character. After the character has reached the middle of the frame then you use the puppet warp tool to animate the character gif to do whatever you want. After this movement with the puppet warp is done you may exit the frame and your done with a short GIF.

.MOV Film Festival

My keywords for my new sitcom project are pidgin, slang, exaggeration, learning and fitting in. Pidgin can relate to anyone who lives in or has visited Hawaii since it is widely spoken throughout the islands. Pidgin is basically english but spoken in the Hawaiian slang. My second keyword, slang, can be relatable because every place you visit there is probably a certain type of slang they speak. In the story, Lester and Raghav are trying to learn Pidgin after their friend greets them in the foreign slang. My third keyword, exaggeration, relates to the how Lester and Raghav exaggerate the Hawaiian slang and my audience could probably relate to over exaggeration at least once in their lives. My fourth keyword, learning, is represented in our story as the conflict while Lester and Raghav try to learn what Kalani was teaching them and everybody can relate to having a hard tim learning something in the past or present. My final keyword is fitting in and that is what Lester and Raghav are doing in the sitcom and many people have always had trouble fitting in.

Our overall message is to not try so hard to fit in or else non one is gonna want to be your friend for someone you aren't. Fitting in is a really universal problem as everyone has experienced sometime in their lives. Raghav and Lester were trying to fit in by learning pidgin. In the story, Raghav and Lester learn that they've been trying to hard to fit in. After they realize this they spend the rest of their time with Kalani.
This overall was a pretty tough project and didn't come out the way I had pictured it in my head. It was really hard to find strangers to work with us at the beach and to even look for the right people. Most people had rejected our request mostly because of them not wanting to be one camera. The biggest difficulty was trying to get everyone of us to meet up at the airport which was one of the scenes we hadn't done yet. This was soon fixed by a simple green screen.

Tiny Spherical Worlds

Composite images help create a panorama which is a image which helps you get a wider view of an image. For our assignment we took 10 vertical pictures in a panoramic form which we are going to put together in Photoshop. This way it would be easier for us to morph it into a world so. When you are taking the pictures you have got to remember to get an equal amount of sky and ground, and make sure that there is nothing hanging down from the sky, like leaves. In Photoshop you would have to use the Photomerge tool so that Photoshop can piece together your composite images together into one single image. Make sure that your photos have at least 25% overlap on each other so Photoshop can do the Photomerge.

Polar panoramas and Spherical panoramas are completely different things but the process of making them are very similar. Polar panoramas are the panoramas that turn into the little planets that you see me standing on. Spherical panoramas are like you're looking up through a tunnel to see the sky. Both panoramas can still have portraits but the polar panorama must have a high angle of a person while a spherical panorama would have a low angle of a person. There is only one step in the process that separate the two panoramas which is turning the image 180 degrees at a certain step to create a polar panorama and you would leave the step out if you wanted to create a spherical panorama.

A big part of our grade for the project is to make the finished products look realistic. This is hard to do because when you assign the polar coordinates, Photoshop takes the two ends of the image and merges them together which creates a line where they meet. That line makes it obvious that the image was warped around. To prevent this we had to use a tool called the stamp tool so we can smudge the line out. This is the hardest part of the panoramic process because sometimes the lines are very obvious which may take up to an hour to make look convincing. Then for the portraits to look convincing we had to make our shadows believable by putting it under our feet, feathering the edges for the shadow to look realistic, turn the opacity down and make sure it matches the angle in which the sun is shining.

Hockney Style Joiners

David Hockney's photomontages are very different from the one's we're creating in class. Hockney's photomontages were not made digitally, he instead made his photomontages by hand after taking pictures and using the physical copies. This also made it cost way more; since the cameras weren't digital each picture had to be processed and there were sometimes up to 100 pictures. David Hockney's photomontages also showed movement of a subject which we didn't focus on in our class. If a person is showed in one of his photomontages they will likely be moving in the image.

Images can send really strong messages which can be emotional in a positive or negative way. Images can show things that might make someone feel a certain way if it is taken the right way. Special effects to an image can help add that feel to it which everyone likes. Usually something that is colorless and black and white will send more of a negative or sad message. Colorful and vibrant images can show happiness and an upbeat message.

I did not really intend to send a message but instead just expressed my love for fishing which is one of my favorite hobbies. So in this case there is no universal meaning but more of a personal meaning for myself. This is all my gear that I use whenever I go fishing. I have frog lures, and my two fishing rods tackle box with hooks and weights and other lures, my fishing rods along with my Scissors.

2016 Aspirations

One goal I will attain in 2016 is getting my grades up because I have been slipping in my grades from the beginning of eight grade. My second goal is to be a better person in general by eating healthier and living healthier and having a good mind. My third goal is to be more involved in clubs and extra curricular activities because it would help me in the future. My fourth goal is to spend time with my family more which I lacked a lot last year and would like to do more this year. My final and fifth goal is to be more proactive because I am a major procrastinator and it is affecting my grades.

Getting my grades up is my priority at the moment because I had been going down in grades since the beginning of eighth grade. Grades are a BIG deal to me and my family so it is important for me to get as much A's as possible because even two B's are a big deal. Lately I've been getting more and more B's so I need to start being more proactive if I want to stay in the A and B range. The grade problem also ties in greatly with my procrastination and thats why I need to fix that problem first. If I get that problem out of the way then I could stop stressing at the end of the quarter.

My first step is probably do my homework the day that it's given instead of doing it all at the end of the quarter. My second step is probably to focus more in class and stop talking to my friends because I could miss important information. I think that I also have to do is write in my planner more which will help me get better grades by helping me remember my homework.

Scratch Game Design

CHASE GAME
Use the arrow keys or W, A, S, D keys to move. Try to survive for as long as possible and get as much points as you can by running away from the lion. Don't get caught or else it's GAME OVER.

The user experience was a big part of my chase game but not as much in my platformer. In my chase game I made sure that my that it was challenging and had the player alert at all times. I did not however so this on my platformer since I spent half my time making an advanced gravity engine which at the end wasn't worth it. I didn't have enough time to make the second level which was required

Try get to the starfish before the timer runs out!!!

Invention Commercial

My team's main goals for this assignment was to make an original invention that works and film a commercial for it. The first and hardest part in this project was to actually come up with the idea for a Mr. Sanderl and after approval it was time for filming. Our goal now was to actually make the soles, which we did at our friend Kalani's house. The next day we were going to finish all of our filming on the one day before the due date. We managed to finish and our goals had been reached.
new invention to make. I was hard but after some thinking we were going to make something called the Super Soles. After the idea, we started writing the script and B-roll shots to make the commercial. We also timed the voice overs so we could make sure it fit the time limit of 40-50 seconds. We then checked the plan with

They're weren't any great team moments in this project since it was not that long and I guess the only time it was reasonably a great moment was when we were working on the shoe soles. This moment everyone was doing something and it was all really productive. I've got to say that might have beenthe only time in a long time where everyone in my team was THAT productive. That was the only time in this project that the whole team cooperated in doing something. Every other time we didn't do work that organized.

Kalani was the person who provided us with all the equipment we needed to make the soles at his house. Lester was the person who did the voiceovers and acted in this commercial, he was the one who tried on all the soles. I was the one who did everything else which was editing and filming the whole thing. The one thing our whole team contributed in was the writing and the scripting of the project as well as the product idea. This project was one of those projects in which I didn't put as much effort as I would another project and that showed in our video.

Composition Scavenger Hunt

I think the most important composition techniques is the unusual angle. It might seem like it isn't that important but unusual angles go a long way. It makes big difference of the quality in the film by making things seem more interesting then they actually are. It makes the shot way more atmospheric and filled with emotion. I think this composition technique is most useful in movie trailers which would make the viewer intrigued and want to watch the movie. Unusual angles in my opinion is the best yet the most simplest composition technique to use.

I think the hardest composition technique to use is macro mostly because of how close the subject is supposed to be to the camera. If you don't have a camera that can manual focus then macro shots are even more especially difficult to correctly take. For auto focus cameras (which is what we used in our composition technique video) whenever something is close to the lens, the subject gets blurry and unfocused. This ruins a macro shot because it needs to be extremely focused for a macro shot to be truly astonishing. A camera that can manual focus is probably the best option if you want to take macro shots.

My teammates are Kalani Young and Lester Garcia and in this project we all switched roles. For the filming part of this project we switched roles a lot. one person would be the camera man the other would be doing the voice-over and someone else will be the subject of the shot. In the editing part of this project we split up all the work. I organized all the clips into the right order and added the music. Kalani put in all the transitions between every composition technique clip and Lester put in all the text layovers for each clip.

Cracking The Code

Coding is a way anyone can communicate to there device and make it do what you want. This generation is turning digital and most people don't even know how to really communicate and understand coding. Coding can help you do everyday things easier such as unlocking your car, texting, communicating, etc. There are also millions of job opportunities out there that involve coding and pay well. A lot of these companies try to motivate people to learn code by promoting coding websites like Code.org.

My first experience with code wasn't in this class but was in summer break when I was learning code from website a called codecademy. The first thing I learned was HTML and CSS which were the two basic coding languages. I kept a notebook to take note of all the important things I needed to know about HTML and CSS. It was easy at first but after it got to CSS things got a little more challenging and hard to understand. Despite the challenge I completed the course in 3 weeks.

If I could create a a game then I would make a simple plat former like mario and release it in the app store. Or I would've created a program that lets you search for a job next to your location in a way simple way. I have many ideas on things I could make with code most of which were games. Another game I would've created is a game like flappy bird which is simple but really addictive. In conclusion, coding is a important thing to learn and is essential in our newly digital world.

My Humorous Monologue

We are now starting up our first video project of the year and it is called "Comedic Monologue". I
have learned that this project resembles what every comedian's has to go through to make masterfully comedic piece. A piece of comedy needs planning, thinking and preparation. The ideas you have for a comedic piece need to go into a organized template where you can add things to your jokes, figure out the tones, organize your joke and just plan every detail out in general. Jokes aren't the easiest things to create but these templates can really make your jokes stand out to their full extent. Every comedian has to plan his joke, no comedian just thinks of a joke and tells it to the public immediately, it needs planning and memorization.

Padding is the extra video you take before you start your actual scene and after your scene is over. This helps with making your transitions a lot more fluent and smooth. The camera man will usually first say "Rolling," which means that the camera just started recording and then following up with an "Action," which means the actor can start his scene. At the end of your scene tell your actor to stay in there position for at least 3-5 seconds before you stop recording for a nice end padding. Padding is also more pleasing to hear rather than sudden cuts in the audio, which might confuse your audience.
I am the orange part.

I think my weakness was actually coming up with the idea of what my comedic monologue should be, which I took about a week decide. I got my idea from our teacher Mr. Sanderl when he suggested that someone do a comedic piece of being sarcastic about middle school. I think my strength was the editing part because to me that is the easiest part of the whole process. It's also the part of the process where it is actually fun.I think I can improve by being more proactive because during filming I was procrastinating a lot and had to do everything at the last minute. Overall, this was a fun project and I hope to do other projects like this again.

Comedy Writing

I think that a sense of humor is an important trait because that says a lot about someone's personality. It might give you an idea on what someone likes to do or how they have fun. It might show you someone's opinion on things by just seeing what kind of comedy a person likes. I think comedy defines someone. Everybody prefers a type of humor that they laugh and chuckle. I think someone's sense of humor describes how much fun a person has. A sense of humor is many things, it can be a coping mechanism, a way to lighten up, a way to just feel good or to make things better.

The 1st tip is to see what kind of things everyone can relate to and you can make a good joke out of. Then you have to pick what kind of tone your going to say your joke in which can make or break the joke in my opinion. After that you need to find out the every word that is going to be put into the joke to make the most out of the it. You've got to make a physical plan to organize your joke. Finally you got to practice it in front of people for practice to see if you get the intended audience reaction.

Middle School isn't the best place in the world to be, my comedic monologue emphasizes that opinion. It is presented by making sarcastic jokes about middle school which is completely relatable. The voiceover is overlaid by funny and applicable b-roll which are appropriately timed. Anyone who is going through or already has gone through middle school will find my monologue funny. The A-roll and B-roll are also appropriately timed to make even more of a comedic effect.

Motivational Poster

The layer requirements are that you need 6 layers in total. The first 2 layers were supposed to be your quotes and manifesto. The other 4 were supposed to be your images, which were your portrait and 3 symbolic images. We also had to use the move tool wisely and arrange the images artistically. The text requirements are that you've got to kern the  text so that there is no blank spaces or holes in the text. We also had to have a triadic color scheme on our text using the color wheel that was provided to us, 1 dominant color and 2 harmonious colors. Then we had to add effects to the text layer using option like stroke, drop shadow, bevel and emboss, glow and much more. For the images' effects you had to add thing like levels, curves, exposure and color balance.

First I spent a lot of time kerning my text by choosing the word in my manifesto and quotes that really stood out to me. Then I had to choose specific fonts and sizings and much more to fit the specific word I kern. I also needed to make sure that the ALL the text was kerned and fit the page perfectly. After I was done with the tim consuming kerning, I uploaded my images. I started arranging the images after I uploaded them and then realized that I needed a triadic color scheme. So I went to the website that was provided to us to go find a color scheme. After I chose the color scheme I added it to the text and moved on. Then I added effects to my text so it can stand out and can be visible in front of the images. After, I added the exposure, brightness and contrast, levels and color balance to the images to get a turquoise color overlaying the images. Finally, I added some finishing touches like arranging the text layers and image layers for the last time, then I was finally DONE.

I think the biggest challenge was the kerning because we had to make sure that it looked good as well as make sure that it looked completely aligned at the edges. After which I had to arrange the images to fit the text perfectly. I also tried make the effects not block the text because we needed to see both the images and the text. I think the way I could improve it is by arranging the text better. The text could of looked more organized which could've gotten me an "A" instead of a "B".

Personal Manifesto

I was originally born in Austin, Texas and lived there until I was seven and moved to Hawaii. I am 12, 5'8" and I am in the eighth grade. My favorite subjects are math and science. My ethnicity is a pure Indian and my parents were born in India. My favorite hobbies are playing games and fishing. My favorite fruit is watermelon since I was two.

DO NOT tell yourself you're going to do something the next day because you will never get it done. Do what you think is right because that is all that matters. Get a job in what you're good at and not what you would like to do. If something bothers you fix it and don't ignore it no matter what it is. Pushing yourself to the edge physically and mentally in everything you do is being the best you can be.

I think like most manifestos mine also does the job of giving the audience some tips to be successful at life. I gave advice on how to not procrastinate when you are trying to reach a goal because a lot of people try to reach a goal and procrastinate and forget all about it. I also think that people should get jobs on what they're good at and not what they want to be because just because you want to do something doesn't mean your good at it and could be successful from it. I believe that if people have problem they should fix it and not ignore it and I am mostly talking about bullying because ignoring it doesn't help. Some people don't know what their actual limit of the physical and mental body is, and going to that extent is actually being the best you can be.

Music Videos Rock

Everyone in our team all cooperated well in this project and we split the work up. I will do all the editing, Michael did all the filming, Lester did most of the production plan and Kaz will do the album art in photoshop. After all the filming is done Michael will help me edit the piece. Lester will then go and help Kaz to do the album art. This is one of the rare times where everyone in the teams I've been in, where everyone has all contributed.

                                                                                                Kaz, Michael, Raghav

I think my audience will most likely enjoy the comedy and acting. Me and my teammates chose the song because it was upbeat and we could do something creative with and like we said funny. We made sure everyone was equally included in every scene. I think the audience would like The fact that we expressed ourselves in the group lip-sync. We made it so there was some giggles in the audience. I think the funniest part would be the bloopers which already proved to be successful in the rough cut.

We used intelligent effects in the right place and in a creative way.
We used the ken burns effect which is when you make an edit to a picture so it zooms in a specific way. We used text layovers for some parts and made it better.
Another thing we learned from the year that we used was expressing ourselves.
This was the only video I ever expressed myself a lot.

Lyrical Livelihood

My favorite song lyrics make me feel sad but happy at the same time and I like those kind of songs the most. It was about these friends that were splitting up and going away and the song was called "See You Again". It was in a movie and the song had a lot of meaning to it. The song also related to me because that's what happened to me when I left Austin, Texas and left my friends. It also has a lot of meaning and I love songs liken that and it also has a mix of rap and slow music which also my favorite.

Our team chose the song "When Can I See You Again" From Owl City because it was an upbeat song and something that would be fun to make a music video out of. We thought it is what people think in there minds a lot after a fun time with there friends. We wanted to choose a song that was upbeat yet was relatable. This song was easily memorable and is easy to lip sync to. This song also was pretty relatable, especially for middle schoolers. The last reason we picked it is because we can make funny things out of it the song which would be entertaining.

The visual story will be about your average middle schooler now days having fun together on the field. Soon it gets late and the friends must now all go there separate ways and go home. The friends are consistent and try to plan another day to meet up and have some fun. One of the kids talk to there friends and plan on a calendar. They then get back together at the Basketball Court and have fun again.

Our Animation Story

Our focus statement is "Celeste Seeks Friendship" and it tells our story because the main character, Celeste, seeks friendship after the rejection of her old friends. You should care because many people  have been rejected for various reasons, but there are many ways to make friends. There are millions of people on the internet that can become your friend and they can even help you out with your life.
The best thing about internet friends is the fact of a long distance friendship. So there is practically no way they can lose contact.

The audience learns a lesson about friendship and how it really works and that your friend doesn't need to be right in front of you for them to be your friend. The audience also learns that internet friends can help you with things and can be better than the friends up close. This is presented when Loren in the story helps Celeste. They're both internet friends yet still Loren makes a big impact on Celeste's life by helping her out. This concept is what is mainly explained in our story.

I think our best moments have been when we all watched our final product because it looked amazing and we all loved it. I also liked the fact when everyone was helping each other out and were really supportive even if someone was messing up. I also was amazed when I found that the first time ever in a team that I was in everyone was participating. We didn't have bad moments in our team but there was only one time which was only for me. This was when I had to redo my stykz animation because i messed it up.

Animation Outtakes

My teammates are Lester, Celeste and Loren and they are all very interesting people. Lester was born in Messina, Italy and he loves to play tennis. Loren has a twin brother called Hershel, and they both used to live in Brooklyn, New York. Celeste is a part of a band and likes to dye her hair regularly. These are all my teammates and they are truly awesome.

Stop motion animation is an art of taking a series of pictures to make inanimate objects come to life. With stop motion you can make your character do creative things such spin instead of walking and thing like people teleporting. The main point of stop motion is to make people do things they normally would've had trouble doing and make it become easier. GIF's are animations or video that are on a infinite loop. GIF's are mostly used when something on camera is caught and is funny or cool they will keep looping it to make it so you don't have to keep replaying it yourself.

Our story is about this girl named Celeste who gets rejected by her friends and she gets upset. So she
goes on the internet and finds this girl about the same age as her. They soon become friends and Celeste tells Loren her problems. Loren then gives Celeste advice in her problems. Finally Celeste talks to her friends to fix things. You should care because we all have internet friends and that is no different then a friend at your school or in your neighborhood.

Typography Images

Typography images are images that have a equal balance of black and white which can be used to put you words. The words you use is supposed to have information of the person in the image or words that describe them. It makes a lasting impact because the words are portrayed artistically on the person's face and it looks like a Silhouette but with words on the dark places. The image also informs you about the person and the words are placed in way that that stands out but the amazing part is that you can also see exactly who the person in the Portrait is. The greatest impact is made when the person has facial hair and  you can put word on that and it will make it even more artistic!

I think the hardest part was keeping up with Mr. Sanderl's tutorial at the end because it was rushed and I had to carefully read the tutorial. The bell rang so we had to finish it at lunch but I finally figured out how to do it and it was clear after that. the end is really critical which i'm guessing was the hardest part for me. Everything else was decent, not to challenging and not to easy. The thing that kind of scares me though is the fact that the type of portrait I was doing was a Beginner Tutorial.

The first image of typography was about our innovator who inspires in everyday life or someone who made a huge change in the world. I chose Thomas Edison who inspires me everyday for not giving up, doing the best you can do and try as much as you can. My teacher I chose was Mr. McHugh which is a math teacher at our school and came out great it was also a intermediate tutorial. Our third protrait was out own pictures. We had to make sure we had equal amounts of Shadows, Highlights and Mid-tones. The thhird was a advanced tutorial but to be honest I think the Second tutorial was the hardest.

                                                        Beginner Typography

Double Exposed Portraits

Portrait photography is basically taking pictures of people's faces and it can only be a human. In a portrait you have to see both sides of the person's face or else its a profile, Portraits also can be better if they are HDR. The main similarity of a portrait compared with profiles and silhouetting is that they are all pictures of a human faces. The differences are the fact that the pictures have different main elements like silhouetting is basically showing the outline of someones face and profiles are basically the sides of someones face. All three of these types of images are all very interesting to look at.

I think one of the things that are similar are that both have to deal with the face and doing something creative with it. I think that the different thing is that the portraits always have to be the full face of the person or else its not considered a portrait. Both silhouetting and profiles are mostly sides of people's faces. This is because the both are more meant to express creativity of the outline or something else of the face other than whats already on the face. In my opinion my favorite version is probably the profile since it is the most creative and you have a lot of options to change it.

First you got to have a vertical picture of yourself or someone and you got to make sure the background is mostly all one color. Then you take a picture of two things that symbolize you this can be taken any way you want it to. After you go into photoshop you go to File > Scripts > Load Files Into Stack. Then let photoshop do its thing and after choose the dodge tool and stroke around the profile. After your done crop it to 8.5 in by 11 in and 300 pixels then you double click the layer with you profile and and go to Blend Mode > Screen this will make your profile transparent and then you can arrange the other pictures. The other last thing you need to do is Layer > New Adjustment Layer > whatever effect you want.
